Mihaileni, a town which lies on th. Austrian frontier, : was taken by storm and burned.by the peasants to-day. The Jewish inhabitants fled for their lives over the frontier to Bukovina, which is sheltering nearly 20,000 Semitic fugitives. Roman and other frontier towns hay. been pillaged and ravaged by the peasants, who carry off the portable property of the Jews, but tear up their securities, slash their pictures into ribbon., and kill the owners if they dare to offer resistance.

The peasant army has also sacked the banks, which have been forced to suspend payment. Jassy is one of the chief centres of the war-cloud. It is hard-pressed by a mob of peasants, who are laying siege to it, and there has been no little bloodshei. Six infantry regiments have been sent from the south to succor tho beleaguered garrison.
