(Press Assn.— By Telegraph.— Copyrig"nt.) •SYDNEY, May 3. No cliange m the coal lumpers' strike has taken place. Coaling is proceeding satisfactorily with non-union labor. During the height of the gale early this morning the small steamer Unity was cast on Stockton beach, Newcastle. The crew of five were rescued by thc rocket brieade. The Commonwealth Arbitration Court, on the application of the Merchant Service Guild, granted a common rule relating to the shipping industry m respect of an award made m December last year. The Judge said all tlie inter-State steamships competed more or leas with inter-State companies already bound by the award, and as the terms of the award were fairly applicable to a large number of such steamships the Court had decided to make its terms apply over- the whole Commonwealth »n respect of all ships trading between the States, or on any voyage from the Commonwealth to ports outside Australia, namely. New Zealand, New Caledonia, or Fiji. His Honor made provision that rules should not impose hardship on any owner who was ahle to produce satisfactory evidence tluit the award was not fairly "applicable to his ships or shipping business. An interesting ceremony took place at Newport railway workshops, when a handsome marble tablet, subscribed for by the workmen at the shops, m memory of the late Mr Seddon. was presented to Mr C. H.
