TRANSVAAL LABOR PROBLEM.

LONDON, May 2. General Botha was the guest at dinner of the Transvaal banking, commercial,, and mining, interests. He declared the Government would not attempt to deal with the labor question before they had made drastic enquiry. They desired to see the existing mines continue and others opened m the near future.
Lord Harris hailed General Botha's reference to the mines as a safe investment.
Reuter's Pretoria correspondent states that Mr Smats; replying to a labor deputation, said the Government wese determined to repatriate Chinese at the earliest possible opportunity, _and [also the, unemployed whites. ..-
