Tliere was a good attetmancek", = Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. and Dalglty and Co. commenced to sell at 11 o'cfock.l Their yarding consisted, of. about 1600] sheep and a« few cattle and . pigs. Most of the. passed lots were sold after the sale. The following were the priceß : — 653 wethers 14s, 2eo sound mouuied'ewes ' Us, 187 lambs 9s>.6d, 117 w-pdlly lambs - 9s 3d, 55 fat ewes, 13s 6d. Pigs: Two porkers wele offered and brought 20s .each. Catt)(e : A small yarding of cattle came forward ; one steer & n d one heifer selling at 56b each. Messrs Williams and Kettle and New Zealand Lojid Coy. commenced their sale at 11.30. Sheep : About 6000 sheep came forward, was carried on undt<r somewhat unpleasant conditions owing to the rain and the bad state of the yards. The sale w|nt well from the commencement, and most of the yarding was cleared under the hammer. , Bidding was brisk at time, especially for good classes of sheep, consequently fair prices were obtained. Serviceable lines of ewes were in good demand, and brought 13s 4d for 2-tooths to ii 17s Id for . 4 and 6-tootlis. Inferior quality sold at from 5s to 9s 6d. Buyers for wethers were numerous, and the prices for this elass ranged from 14s 6d for 2-tooths to 15s 4d.for fat and forward' 4-tooths. Lambs also sold well, although the wet weather prevented them looking in good nick.
