MAT A WHERO STOCK SALE.

Tliere was a good attetmancek", = Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. and Dalglty and Co. commenced to sell at 11 o'cfock.l Their yarding consisted, of. about 1600] sheep and a« few cattle and . pigs. Owifig. to the bad -weather a line of 1000 wdjthera from Waimata did not come forwfljrd. .In the sheep department the market! was not very brisk, ouly olio lot of lamtys selling under the hammer. Most of the. passed lots were sold after the sale. The following were the priceß : — 653 wethers 14s, 2eo sound mouuied'ewes ' Us, 187 lambs 9s>.6d, 117 w-pdlly lambs - 9s 3d, 55 fat ewes, 13s 6d. Pigs: Two porkers wele offered and brought 20s .each. Catt)(e : A small yarding of cattle came forward ; one steer & n d one heifer selling at 56b each. Messrs Williams and Kettle and New Zealand Lojid Coy. commenced their sale at 11.30. Sheep : About 6000 sheep came forward, was carried on undt<r somewhat unpleasant conditions owing to the rain and the bad state of the yards. The sale w|nt well from the commencement, and most of the yarding was cleared under the hammer. , Bidding was brisk at time, especially for good classes of sheep, consequently fair prices were obtained. Serviceable lines of ewes were in good demand, and brought 13s 4d for 2-tooths to ii 17s Id for . 4 and 6-tootlis. Inferior quality sold at from 5s to 9s 6d. Buyers for wethers were numerous, and the prices for this elass ranged from 14s 6d for 2-tooths to 15s 4d.for fat and forward' 4-tooths. Lambs also sold well, although the wet weather prevented them looking in good nick. Cattle : Over 400 head df cattle were yarded. The sale was better than last week, altltough the murket was still dragging. Most of the young stock was sold, and tliere was better demand for beef. Following were tho prices': 47 wenners (mixed sexes) £1 6s, Barron; 51 18-month steers £2 14s, McSaveny ; 46 yearling steers £1 12s, Judd Bros, t 28 heifers £2 10s, W. J. Trafford; 8 steers nnd 7 heifers £2, G. Witters; 7 beef bullocks £7 2s 6d, Common, Shelton and Co. ; 6 jjirime beef bullocks £7 10s, same huyeraj 7 light beef bullocks £4 12s 6d, W. Tlie next sale will be held on the 16th, and fortnightly thereafter through the winter.
