Mokoia (Captain Smith) arrived from Sydney and Auckland at ,3 p.m. to-day. The steamer proceeds to Southern ports to-night; last boat 5 o'clock. The Tyser steamer Star of New Zealand is due from Wellington to-morrow mooring to load for London. • "**. Tlie Union Co.'s s.s. Squall is expected to complete her discharge of bridge material this afternoon, and returns to Auckland this evening. The Union Co.'s >colliers Kotuku and Kaiapoi are expected to arrive from Westport and Newcastle respectively tomorrow. The s.s. Weka returned to Napier early i this morning. The Union Co.'s s.s. Haupiri left Auckland last night for Coast bays and Gisborne. Transhipments ex Corinthic from London came to hand by the Moura tliis morning. .'_,•'■ The ketch Coronation is detained m port weather bound. • According to this week's Gazette, Capt. MDonald, of the s.s. Waikare, reports that from' careful bearings taken from a position N.W. of Napier breakwater the correct magnetic bearing from eastern side of breakwater to outer rock on Cape Kidnappers is S. 51|deg. E., and that the correct, magnetic bearing by latest Admiralty chart allowing for the increased variation is S. 554deg. E., a differenceof 4deg. Masters are cautioned that when making Napier from Cape Kidnappers m, thick weather, it will be" advisable to steer an, outside course to the extent of 4deg. ' .
