WRECK OF THE ORIZABA.

SALVAGE EXPEDITION FROM

SYDNEY.

The mail steamer Orizaba, stranded on the West Australian coast, has passed into the hands of the wreckers, to be broken up. The vessel has been purchased by Messrs Elinerson Bros., of Balraain, Sydney, and arrangements have been made for the salvage steamer Federal to proceed to the scene on salvage work. The Federal has already done good salvage work and is now m Queensland waterß, visiting some historic wrecks there. On the passage from Sydney the Federal, which is charge of Captain Mann, called off Camden Haven for. the purpose of havinga look at the wreck of the steamer Prince of Wales, which struck on the Telegraph Rock about 20 years ago. The weather/ however, proved too unfavorable, and the steamer went to Evans' Reefj near the Clarence, where the old A.S.N, liner Cahors. came to grief. The sea, however, was too heavy for : salvage work, and the Federal was then headed for Brisbane. Captain Mann expected to receive; a telegram, at Brisbane instructing him to proceed to the wrecked steamer Australian, at Vashon Head, near Port Darwin. 'Failing jthis, he said, it is'intended to make, for the scene of the wreck of the steamer Pacific, on Bunker Group, off Sandy Cape, and -thence to, the wreck of the Glanworth, m the North Channel at Gladstone. Weather conditions permitting, it was' intended to salve these ,two vessels, the chief object of the work being to secure as much metal : as possible. After leaving the Glanworth the Federal will go to the Geelbng Avrebk, on "M" Island, ' oil Mackay, and thence to the Wentworth, which was wrecked many; years ago near Bowen. If it is decided not to visit the Australian, the Federal will make for the wrecked Orient liner Orizaba r near Fremaritle. : ._
