"WHERE THE DEVIL REIGNS."
In reference to the Northern Territory natives, Revs. A. R. Ebbs and E. S. Chase, now m Adelaide, . says that the natural food of the natives is m places getting scarce, and they thereby are often compelled to steal white man's possessions. They were gathering round the townships. ' The children were uncared for and untaught, and wives and daughters were stolen for fonl purposes, with the result that disease was rapidly spreading /among them. Mr Ebbs further remarks that the conditions of the natives, particularly women, are fearful. They are sold 'into slavery, worse than anything m Africa, or any part of the world, and f Malays .and Japanese entrap the women pp pearling boats for evil-purposes.
