THE END OF THE OTAGO TOUR

His Excellency the Governor concluded a ten days' official tour of Central Otago on Saturday, and returned to Wellington at night. , Hig Excellency's trip commenced on April 17th, when he left Dunedin for Alexandra by special train. As it started, so the whole trip continued, a series of bright and loyal receptions at all the stopping places, with the tendering of addresses, of concerts and other entertainments. On Saturday morning, a number of the settlers at Pembroke welcomed ,the Governor, who was afterwards taken for a trip, by motor launch, on Lake Wanaka, many of whose attractions were explored. Heavy rain interfered with the carrying out of Sunday's programme. Queenstown was reached on Monday, and characteris. tic .velcomes were given to the Governor at Arrowtown and Queenstown. .On Tuesday a steamer was made to the head of Lake Waltatipu, and next day tlie vessel took the party to Kingston. N The wet weather, however, quite spoiled the chances. of seeing: any of the .beauties of the lower part of the lake. .Tlie train journey to Lumsden was also spoiled by the unfavorable weather. Oil Friday his Excellency returned to Invercargill and Dunedin, and next morning caught the express train for Christchurch.
