THE MEN WE WANT.
Oh! for a race of men who will ride straight to the fence ol duty with their passions at heel, their brains clear, wills ovave, and hearts pure ; a hardy, thorough-going, self-reliant race, teeming with energy, strong to bear as to-do the will of God. True love means service, service means sacrifice. Would that I could inspire my dear countrymen and countrywomen (the finest, noblest, bravest, and best race on God's earth) with the thought embodied m these lines : — "Measure thy life by love and not by gain, Not by the wine drunk, but the wina poured forth; For love's strength standeth m love'o sacrifice, And he who suffers most has most to give." What a po-wer m God's hands we then should be [—Father Vaughan.
