ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

A general meeting of the East Coast Acclimatisation Society was held af. 11.30 this inorniitg. Mr I. Holden presided, and there were also present: Messrs F.. J, Lysnar, J. 'R. Redstone, 0. Hansen, H. It was at first proponed to make Hie reward £5, but as it was stated that no conviction had been got iii this way as yet, the reward wus made £10. Mr F. J. The Society liad not got a conviction, and al-though-they had appointed rangers every year, nothing was done, although they knew people without licenjses were shooting all over the place.— On Mr Holden's motion Mr Hansen was uppojnted chief ranger at .a salary of £10 a year, 'and also to receive the reward jn cage of securing a conviction. Mr Hansen moved tliat tlie Counly Council be approached with a view to having harta protected. In going round the country one met boys with dogs and guns, all over the place. When asked, the lads said they were after hares, although it was fairly certain that they would shoot anything they came aoross. Mr Hansen's motion was carried.
