PUBLIC SCHOOL SPORTS.

Tine school sports, held at the Wae-renga-a-hika College grounds yesterday, were continued during the afternoon with much interest. In the championship events some excellent racing was witness, cd. Master R. Campbell, of tlie Gisborne school, displayed excellent athletic abilities. Tliis competitor was the largest winner, with eight or nine firsts. He won all his events except the final m the 100 yards championship and the high jump. The half-mile walk was not so brilliant as last year, and m this event A. Beere would have been placed second , but was disqualified for breaking. One A the most interesting events of the day was the vaulting with pole. Here King, a" College lad, somewhat astonished the spectators with vaulting over the bar at a height of Bft lOin, and could easily have increased the height another six inches.
