The legal and other difliculties were found to be so 6erious that it was felt that unless the Svuod first of all gave an authoritative mandate in favor of such a proposal, it would be time wasted to thresh out the details of anv suggestion. In the event, therefore, of* the Synod not beiug prepared to give such a mandate, it is suggested that the committee be discharged: In view, however, of possible developments in other directions, the committee recommend the ■'appointment of a small] committee to make inquiries, and to watch over the interests of the Synod in connection with trust funds.
