THAMES, tliis day. Elizabeth Lyhch, aged 84 yeans, died this morning. Deceased was the relict of the late John Lynch. She arrived m the colony m 1843, and was one of the oldest residents of Auckland aud Tliames. She was held ifi high esteem. Timber export is brisk.* The barque Emjreza has left with half a million feet for Australian ports. HAWERA, this day. At the Band Contest the Quartettes resulted : Wanganui Garrison 98, Woolston Brass Band 94, South Canterbury Battalion 88, Hawera Borough 86, Taranaki Garrison 78. Trombone Trios : Wanganui Garrison 96, Palmerston North Brass Band 89. At a meeting of the North Island Brass Band's Association Mr Cohen was re-elected President The balance sheet shows tho Association is £108 m credit.
WELLINGTON, this day. A body found m the harbor yesterday has been identified as that of William Swan, aged 29 years, who came from England as third cook on the s.b. Tongariro.
