Bannerman, speaking at Larbert, said he was delighted that the old delusion that Unionists were the spec* iai guardians of agricultural interests and the particular friend of the formats and the laborer was knocked on tbe head. There wait a tremendous disproportion of power. He confessed that the Liberals had enormously increased the responsibilities of the Government. Mr Chamberlain, speaking at Halessowen, admitted tliat he had not expected anything like such a political revolution. Tariff reform was postponed, not dead. It would yet be acknowledged the only political remedy for the distress confronting the English trade and workmen. The elections were one huge, Radical log-rolling operation.
