Tlie balance-sheet \'of the Bank of New Zealand for the year ended March '3lst states that the profits, after providing for expenses of management, bad 'and doubtful debts, annual dcnatiion to' the ' provident, fund, and bonus- to the staff are £320,908. From this has been deducted interest- on 'guaranteed stock, £51,977. From the balance the directors have taken £12,500 m reduction of bank premises and furuiture, and £2500 ; in reduction of Colonial Bank property, leaving a balance of £253,930, proposed to be distributed as follows: Statutory pay. ments Assets Board £50,000, dividend of 5 per cent. £50,000, preference shares 1 £25,000, dividend at 5 per cent, on share cnpitil £22.618, leaving a rsurphs payable to the Assets Realisation Board' of £156,311.
