EAST COAST NATIVE TRUST LANDS BOARD.
The - Board met at Napier this week to consider further realisation of the trust lands. . Several petitions from Poverty Bay settlers' having been sent to the Government requesting tliat the Fakowhai be , subdivided into small holdings, the block was put under offer to the Government for close settlement. In the event of the Government not purchasing the property, it will be offered at auction on or about the sth February next. It, is intended to offer it m the nrot instonce^W m one lot, and if not sold it will then^A be offered) m subdivisions. , Mangaheia leaseholds will be offered on the same day, and also the' freehold of Mangatu Nos. 6 andt 6, Motu No. 2, . and of such of the Mania blocks asr arc not redeemed. -The surveying of the Tahora blocks is being proceeded 'with,- and it is intended to offer about 10,000 acres for sale and! 40,000 acres for lease.
