The Daily Mail's Johannesburg correspondent states that the Orange war contribution will be five, millioihs, with an Orange public works loan of a similar amount. CAPETOWN, January 16. Replying to a deputation, Mr Chamberlain regreftted that the animosity dis- •' played towards the National Scouts was being continued. He promised them Government protection. Mr Chamberlain leaves Bloemfanlein on February 9th. He visits Grahamstown, Port Elizabeth, Graafreneft, and Poorle, reaching Capetown on the 17bh. The first part of the Boer Somaliland contingent has sailed from Durban. They have been engaged for six months at 5s per day. The majority are released prisoners of war. Mr Chamberlain is still uncommitted to the importation of alien labor.
