COMMERCIAL.

(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. For the third wool sale of the season there was a neeord entry of 19,330 bales, and a large attendance of Home and oolonM buyers. The bulk of the wool was m excellent condition, being' unusually free of earth, but fairly heavy m grease. Bidding was somewhat irregular, being brisk for merino and specially fine halfbred and quafrter-bred, nmd very keen for strong crossbreds and long wools, but languid for inferior and medium good balfbreds. Tlie competition for pieces, locks and oddments was rather low and erratic, except for lots wanted by colonial woollen milk, which brought very full rates. Compared with the December sales merino fine halfbred was without change ; good medium aiid inferior halfbred £d to fd lower; long wools and crossbreds, especially shady sorts, a marked and distinct advance of id to l^d per lb. The sales continued till 11 to-night, and will be resumed to-morrow. The following was the range of prices: — Superior merino lOd to ll^d, medium 9d to lOd, inferior 7d to 9£d, crossbred superior 8d to 9|d, medium 7d to Bd, inferior s|d to 6£d, crossbred superior 6d to 7d, medium and inferior 4d to s£d, long wool superior 5d to 6£d, inferior 4Jd to sd, pieces and bellies, good s|d to 6|d, inferior 2£d to 4£d, locks Id to B£d.
