He waited on Mr Seddon, jind was told. that the Premier was too busy to,see him, but if he hud anything- to say about the' colony .he had better go to the Agent-Genend. Thinking it was not the Agent-General's biwdness, but a maltev for a Minister, of the Crown, Mr Smith, resolved to do nothing furtheir until k> came to the colony fully armed. with credentials and authorisations. . ', : Shortly put, Bristol wants to be (fte depot for New Zealand produce, for distribution all over the W.est of England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. With this object m view, the Dock Committee if. prepared to offer an animal subsidy, aijfl Mr Girdlestone says he has no doubt that the Bristol Council, the body conu^ctedl with tJie Dock Committee, will offer -m other subsidy on condition tha6 New Zealand supplies the third.
