FIRE AT W^.IPIRO. (To the Editor o{ the Herald.) Sir,— We have of late read through the columns of our local paper the great loss q{ property, m , some cases almost loss of tife .through the late bush fires which have baen raging m all .parts of the country. I would ask you to kindly permit me space to bring T)ef ore the people of Waibiro and surrounding districts' the great loss sustained by Mr E. T. TeohomsurrS on the 6tli inst.^ when he lost the wliole of his crop including a valuable crop o£ potatoes, about 2 acres in-extent^ »hso hia house^'and furniture, together with life agricultural implements. The only things saved were some 30 rams belonging to the Native Committee. • These were *-. leased by Renata. Tamepo, who did sojpi the risk of his own life. Now, sir? as bhe fire was started, m the first place by the Committee, who were fortunate enough to have their own property saved, would It not be only fair to ask them to interest themselves on Mr Teohomauri's behalf, who was unfortunate enough to lose all lie possessed m this world.- And when we take into consideration, that he is a married man with v a family, it must .surely touch the sympathy .pf. all right thinking people. Contributions to the above will be gre^tfully received by Mr C. T. Botaku. at t.he office of Messrs Ferris and JVrris Albion Lane. ' SYMPATHISER.
