Lord Kitchener sails homewards to-day. Lord Metlmen has refused a public welcome on his return, to Wiltshire. (Received June 23, 8.44 a.m.) LONDON, June 22. Colonel" Hamilton, Lord Kitchener's military secretary, has arrived at Windsor, and has presented the*original document of the Boers' surrender to the King. Lord Kitchener was given an enthusiastic farewell banquet at Johannesburg. He appealed to the employers to find lucrative employment for the Rand volunteers. It has been arranged that five squadrons each of the First and Second Imperial Light Horse, South African Light Horse, Johannesburg Mounteds, Kitchener's Scouts., and Scottish Horse should retain, their horses, rifles, and equipment without oost, on condition that they can be recalled by the military if required. General Bruce Hamilton held an indaba with the Zulus at Vryheid, and explained that the British and Boers were friends. He announced that Magistrates would inquire into their grievances in regard to cattle alleged to have been stolen. The Zulus expressed loyalty, and promised to return to their homes. WELLINGTON, this day. The Governor is advised that Private Wm. Whetter, of Waikouaiti, died of dysentery at Klerksdorp on June 20, and Private P. Monk, of Kaikoura, was dangerously ill of enteric at Newcastle on June 14. A number of the Seventh Contingenters on the troopship Manila, due at Wellington to-mori'ow, are suffering from influenza. DUNEDIN, this day. Trooper W. Whetter, of Waikouaiti, succumbed at Klerksdorp on June 20th to injuries sustained to the Eighth by the Machanie railway disaster on April 12th.
