TOLAGO BAY BRIDGE.

A meeting of the Bridge committee was held at Tolago Bay on Saturday evening to consider the estimate, for a bridge received from the Chief Engineer of Roads. There were present Messrs Kelburue (chairman), Moore, Watkins, Holder, Lockwood, and Boland. The letter received showed tbftt the proposed bridge is estimated by the Department to cost £3000, not including approaches and compensation for had required, about two acres. The bridge is to consist of twenty-eight spans of 18ft- each and will be built /ot round ironbark piles, coppered^ ironbark stringers, caps, walings, and braces, coppered where necessary, handrails, and decking of kauri. The width Uf the roadway will be 12ft, and each span will be capable of carrying a load of 15 toils. The site chosen is at the continuation of Cook street, in the most central part of the township. The bridge will, be a single traffic bridge, and the committee expressed the opinion that it would meet all requirements. On the motion of Mr Lockwood, seconded by Mr Boland, it was resolved that the chairman be authorised to inter-' view the Hon. Mr Carroll, and to ask him to endeavor to have a sum of £2250 placed'upon the Estimates for the bridge.
