DeLautour, F. Hall, li. M. Hucchinsoii, P. T. Ivenway, and VV. D. Lysnar.

Air VV. A. Ciictmuei't, said as the shareholders luui done him the honor of electing him a director of the company, he uouJti like to ■ say a few remarks. Aithougu, some trouble was experienced in starting the company, they now imd nuuteis on a very sound basis. it was not intended as a dividend-paying concern, but it would keep up the price of stock to a fair thing. In saying that, lie must point out thateach individual shareholder must work and get more members. The present works would be found to be too small for next year, and it would be found necessary to double their plant. They would need £5000 to £7000 next year for the purpose of duplicating their plant. He hoped members would keep this end in view, and that instead of freezing 700 a day, they would be putting through 1200 to 1600. Taking Nelson's capacity as at present, they would need to provide for that uumLer. They might not do this all through the season, but rushes would occur when sheep were fat and owners wished to get rid of them. Mr Chambers hoped that shareholders would bear in mind that thej' were not yet at the top of the tree. They should extend the membership of the company between now and the middle of next September, so that they would be able to increase the capacity of the works at short notice by having the money in hand. They had the necessary money to start with, but they would want double the amount to go on with and increase the works without giving a lower price for sheep. Mr Ewen Cameron said he hoped the directors would see that none but good sheep were taken to the works. If they were to go on, they should have nothing but the best. (Hear, hear.) He hoped that they would get a good manager who would see that this was strictly carried out, as it was in the best interests of the company.

A vote of thanks to the chair, on the motion of Mr Lysnar, concluded the meeting.
