. * (Per Press Association.). "" . ■ . AUCKLAND, last night. The executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union met to-day. It was agreed that a colonial conference of the Union take place at Dunedin on the first month of the next session of Parliament. It was agreed that a deputation wait on the steamship companies with a view cf endeavoring to get a reduction on freights on wool; also to interview auctioneers and endeavor to get a reduction of auctioneers' charges on wool. Three tenders were received, from the Commercial Union and Ocean Insurance Companies, and from the Government Insurance Department, offering special terns to insure members of the Union against claims under the Workers' Compensation Act, It was decided to accept the tender of the Commercial Union, which was the lowest, if casual bushfellers are included. The action of the Taranaki executive in urging a reduction of fire insurance premiums was explained by the President of the Taranaki branch, who stated that as soon as returns could be got from the branches showing the amount of risks that would be insured he intended to get special meetings of representatives called with the view of approaching the insurance companies for a reduction of rates. The action of the Taranaki executive was approved.
