NOVEL RAIN-MAKING.

EXPERIMENTS WTTH ELECTRIC CURRENT. : According to the North China Herald, which aparently quotes from Japanese papers, rain-making has been again successfully performed: m Japan by sending an electric current into the air. The process was tried m the Fukushima prefecture. Operations were commenced at 11 p.m., but there was no sign of atmospneric change till nine o'clock next morning, when a clustef of clouds was observed over the hill on which the experiment was held. However, the clouds very soon . disappeared, and everyone seemed disappointed At length, however, rain began to fall for the first time at about 4 a.m., followed by a second fall at 11 a.m., and afterwards a third, fourth, and fifth. It was about 9.30 p.m. when the last fall commenced, and. an area extending over many miles derived the benefit of the rain, which had not fallen on that j part for some time.
