INVESTING DECORATIONS.

After the presentation of addresses at Government House, Sydney, on May 29, his Royal Highness the Duke of Cornwall and York invested Sir Frederick Darley, K.C.M.G., with the order of the G.C.M.G., and Dr Graham, Mayor of Sydney, with the order of Knight Bachelor. This was the first time m Sydney that a member of the Royal family performed -' a ceremony of this description, and therefore the interest m it was unique. The Court of Investiture was opened by the reading of the Royal Letters Patent by Sir Arthur Bigge, Clerk of the Privy Council.. "Sir Frederick Matthew Darley, K.C. M.G.," was called, and was escorted by Bir George Dibbs, K.C.M.G., and the Earl of Hopetoun, G.C.M.G. The procession was preceded by Viscount Crich- - ton, who bore the insignia of the order on a crimson cushion. Sir Frederick Darley , knelt on one knee on a footstool before His Royal Highness, who placed over his shoulder the blue and scarlet ribbon of St. Michael and St. George, and pinned on bis breast the star of the order. His Royal Highness then took a sword from his equerry.Sir Charles Gust, and touched Sir Frederick Darley upon both shoulders. Dr Graham was then invested with the order of Knight Bachelor. Having been touched by Hia Royal Highness on the shoulders with a sword, the Mjiyor of Sydney rose "Sir James."
