CORRESPONDENCE. SCHOOL CADETS.

(To the Editor of the Herald.) Sir, — I am pleased to see that Mr Marshall's efforts have been crowned with success, and that the Matawuero School Cadets are to go to Christchurch - after all. All honor to Mr Marshall. And we may well ask what has Qisborne done that the hopes of our boys have been raised, and now they are to be left at home. If it is because, they are not a school cadet corps, the question is — Why have we not got a cadet corps m connection with our school ? I understand that over 12 months ago the Committee went to a lot of trouble trying to get one formed, but, owing to the apathy shown by the teaching staff, who would not take the matter up, and notwithstanding that outside gentlemen offered to drill them, the schenie was dropped. I hope the Committee, m considering applications for the vacant assistant-mastership, will give this matter earnest consideration, and try and get a man who understands military drill, and who will be sufficient of an enthusiast to try and put Gisborne School on a level m this respect with other schools m the colony. — Yours, etc., GISBORNITE. I 'J
