The departure for England of Lillywhite, whom the police call Blatch. and whom they charge with the Colchester murder, has (writes a Wellington correspondent) once more drawn attention to this remarkable case. Lillywhite and his friends are indignant at his not being idlowed to go Home by way of Vancouver, but there were grave objections from the Crown's point of view to the adoption of that route. The police are still confident that they have not made a mistake. One circumstance which strengthens their belief is that a photograph of accused, taken in Wellington since his arrest, reached England last week. It is thought that if these portraits clearly showed that the wrong man had been arrested, the English authorities would have done, something to stop the accused from leaving New Zealand at present.
