There was fine weather. > The yacht race, 30-rating class, was won by the Sunbeam, with the Janet second and Magic third. With the exception of the Janet the yachts got away together. The Sunbeam gradually crept up on the Fleetwing on the run to Manly, rounding the buoy in third place. Squaring for home the Sunbeam ran away irom the others, and led to the finish. Comparing times, the Sunbeam won with a minute and 57 seconds to spare from the Janet. A young man named Elwyn Richards, son of a well-known squatter near Forbes, shot his father and mother as they lay in bed. He next attempted to shoot his aster, and finally shot himstif dead.
