Kahuwai has been scratched for the Cup. Hawke's Bay Cup, of 300 soys; U miles: Ideal 1, Skobeloff 2, Battleaxe 3. Scratched: Kahuwai and Sirius. A splendid race, Ideal winning by a short length, Battleaxe a good third. Time, 2min4osec. Div., £2 19s. Welter Handicap: Jadoo«L, The Hempie 2, Donovan 3. Scratched: Derringcotte. Won by half a length. Time, lmin 51 l-sth sec. Div., £6 4s. Nursery: Nonette 1, Rere 2, Alenura 3. Scratched: Indian Queen.
