J The New Zealand Cricket Council pur- ' pose communicating immediately with the M&rylebone Club with a view to inducing the English cricketers to include this ' colony m their itinerary. j At the annual business meeting of the Mosgiel Baptist Church it was unanimously resolved, "That this Church an-, jnual meeting assembled records its sinjcere gratitude to the Bey. J. K. Elliott, of Wellington, for his opportune and courageous protest against the recent official desecration of the Sabbath." Otago will be represented at the rifle meeting at Wanganui by 28 competitors, who leave to-mwrrow. Included m the number are Lieutenant- Colonel Smith, ex-champion, and Privates G. Fraser and T: Frazer, of Kaitangata, C.P.O. Woollett, Dunedin Navals, and Captain Armstrong, of Dunedin, all wellknown competitors at these meetings. Mitchell (3), Braithwaite (2), and J. McGrath (bow)., The Silver Cloud, severely damaged by a collision near Sydney Heads, is a well-known trader, to New Zealand ports. She is-a wooden three-mastefl schooner, built m 1874 at Sunderland, and is-owned by Mr T. AJ. Carlow, of Auckland. Captain Heays is m charge. Evidently Air C. C.
