RECHABITES' CONFERENCE.

■ ' . — : ♦ Gisborne is^ honored by the fact that the annual convocation of the Independent Order of Rechabites is 'being held • here. Delegates from' all parts of the colony arrived last night and this morn-^ ing; und the business of "the conference '.is to commence m the tent room, Wesley Schoolroom, to-morrow morning at ten o'clock. The proceedings are likely to last all, day. This afternoon the delegates are being driven to the pretty residence of Mr W. Sievwright, and this .evening they will attend the ordinary meeting of the Gisborne Tent, after which they will be entertained by the members at a social evening. On Friday afternoon they will . be driven lo Mr Tombleson's, Newstead, and io>the evening there is to be a complimentary ' social gathering m the Academy of Music, which is sure to be well attended. Considerable regret was expressed at the absence of the Hon. T. H. Fraser, who wasWetained at Wellingtoa through illness. The names of the visitors are as follows: Messrs J. Goer and J. Rash (Wellington), E. Mayson (Napier), H. Jellyman (Blenheim), J. H. Hall (Wellington), S. F. Sherwood and J .M. Calder (Nelson), J. Whitaker (New Plymouth), T. C. Bell (Wellington), W. H. Uttley and W. H. Johnson (Dunedin), A. Palmer and F. Coles (Christchurch), — . Westney (Invercargill), A. Olsen (Norsewood), J. Newling (Ormondville), W. Easthope (Masterton), — . White (Carterton), Alex. Robertson (Wakefield), — . CoDen (Johnsonville),' W. Johnson (Palmerston North), F. H. Barnard (Hawera), C. W. Roberts (Pahiatua), and — . Hill (Brightwater). Mr A. G.eorgeson is the Gisborne delegate. Waipukurau tent is represented by proxy. The following female tents are also represented : Wellington, Sister J. Youmons ; Invercargill, Sister Lumsden. The district officers are • D.C.R., W. J. Gaudin; D.D.R.y W Stead; P.D.C.R., J. Piper; D.S.J.T., J. F. Fathers; D.T., A. J. Bennett. We wish the delegates a pleasant stay m Gisborne.
