; , WELLINGTON, this day. The^anniversary'of Wellington province is being celebrated to-day Dy the observance of a general holiday. 'The principal event is the Port Nicholson Yacht Club's Regatta, m which interest centres m the race between the Rainbow, ol Auckland, and the Waitangi, of Wellington. On the first round of the course the Rainbow was 9min ahead of the Waitangi, and unless a mishap occurs she must win easily. ■ The Atlanta won the secondclass race, Siren second.
