Mr George Jeffrey, bookkeeper to Simon Brothers, bootmakers, Dmiedin, dropped dead the other morning. The correspondent of tho London Daily Telegraph in Komo telegraphs aomo curious gossip about the Pope. It seems that, though weak, the rumors about his health have bfcun ai usual very much exaggerated. It is announced, however, that the Pope will not in future receive tho pilgrimages in private audience, but merely bestow the apostolic benedict ion. This shows (says the Daily Telegraph's correspondent) that tliu l'upe's health must bp really precarious, or he would not have yielded to the medical authorities.
