Daunt is first favorite for the Cup, but there is no straight out wagering, nearly all the doubles being Liken. Explosion is second in favor. A number of improvements have been made in the course, includinc; the alteration of the totalisators so that no one can tell what amount of money any particular person is putting on. At a meeting of the iMasterlon Racing Club a man named John Coogan admitted that he was the owner oE Ethel, and sent her to another man at Wellington to run her at Opalti. He expected her to be "rung in." Coogan was disqualified for life, and the enquiry was further adjourned.

The Wellington Cup comes upfordecision on Saturday. Those at pre cut engaged consist of baunt B'G, Crusoe S'l, Red Lancer 7 4 12, Fulmen 700, Cannonahot 7*B, Ruby Twist, ~'(i, Explosion 76, and Okoari 76. Mr Evitt has decided not to rehandicap any of the candidates, so the nei<;hts stand as given above. Tho race presents a most open appearance, but the winner may probably come from Crusoe or Fulmen.

At the Whan'jarei Jockey Club meeting last Saturday the chief event, the Whangßrei Cup, one and a half miles, was won by Admiral Hawke, St. Gordon beinj second, and Boadicia third ; dividend, £1 )9s. Maid of Honor won the two hurdle races, and The Trifler the Steeplechase.
