Captain Edwin wired this afternoon as follows ;— " Gale with rain from north-cast and north and west after 10 hours at all places north of Thames and Manukau, and after 20 hours from thence southward to Blenheim and Westporl. Strong north and east and south-east winds from thence Boutli to Timaru and Qucenstown. Moderate to strong west winds elsewhere. Barometer fall, but rise again after 12 hours. Sea heavy on both coasts, lides generally good." .^______
