Ciikistciiiirc!]|, to-day. The New Ze.il-ind Cricket Council have definitely decided to send a team to Australia. The principal feature of the intercolonial cricket matches between New South Wales, South Australia, and Victoria is the " taking down" which New South Wales lias received. The New South Welshmen were supposed to be the strongest batting team which ever left, Sydney. They gave the Tasmanians a terriiic drubbing (which must make the New Zealanders shiver in tear and trembling), and had been doing great scoring in home cricket. But they wore first beaten by South Australia, and then soundly tin-ashed by A'ictoria. Victoria has also soundly thrashed South Australia twice. What renders New South Wales's "taking down" the more noticeable is that newspaper writers and correspondents in Sydney, who have been picking an Australian Eleven for the English tour, had not been content to name less than seven or eight of the team as Sydney men ; indeed, many went the length of naming ten. The outcome of the matches has been a cruel shock to these gentry.
