CORRESPONDNCE.

VICTORIA DOMAIN. (To the Editor or the llkrald ) Sir,— ln one of your late issues I notice a paragraph stating that a lease of the Victoria Domain to the Athletic Sports Committee has been signed by the Governor-in-Couueil, and a stipulation has been added to one of the clauses of it that the fees of admittance to the grounds shall at all times be fair and reasonable ; and you add " whatever that may mean." I answer that it may mean anything, or as much as the committee may rleeide to charge the public for admittance to the ground that belongs to them, or did belong to them before it was signed away for twenty-one years by two or three of the Domain Board — the other members and the general public being (as far as I can learn) ignorant of the whole illegal transaction. I contend that before granting a lease of any kind whatever, all the members of the Board and the public generally should have had an opportunity of discussing and voting for or against such an important affair. Considering the size of Gisborne the domain is a small property, and may appear to some to be of little importance ; but this blundering transaction of leasing away iv public park for sneh a long period and on such miserable terms will certainl}' bring trouble, and that in the near future. —I am, &0., Citizen.
