The press strongly animadverts on the police not searching for Hill when he was first reported to be missing, and for failure to arrest the ninn alleged to have committed offences on boys at Ipswich. The police have information supporting the theory that both crimes were the work of the same individual. The bullets used in both eases correspond in size. (Received Jan. 10, 9.45 a.m.) Jan. 10.— Burgess, prior to his arrest, told a number of settlers that he knew the Murphys well. The girls, ho said, got what they deserved, and the elder one was a great flirt. Another man haß been arrested at Bundaberg disguised as a swagman. He fcehaved suspiciously, and denied, but subsequently admitted, ownership of a revolver hidden in a tank. Meldoornk, Jan. 9. A Government official anrt his daughter state that the Yarra victim is identical with Miiisßeaumont,aTusnianian resident. The police have traced the movements of the man supposed to be connected with the murder of the boy Hill in Queensland. The man was seen at Port Adelaide on board a vessel bound to Natal.
