A MATCii was played yesterday afternoon between the Poverty Bay and Arai Polo Clubs on the Poverty Bay ground at Makauri. The sides were as follow :— Poverty Bay. Aral 1. H. Tucker 1. F. Evans 2. S. Williamson 2. O. Evans (capt.) 3. G. Scott 3. Rangi 4. (t. Bradley (capt) 4. Awini Umpires : C. H. Evans and V. Barker. The match consisted of four spells of a quarter of an hour each, and was very keenly contested. In the first spell the ouly goal hit was by«Povcrty Bay. In the second spell nearly all the scoring was done by To Arai, who took five to their opponents' one. Game, 5—2. In the third spell the Bay representatives worked , hard, and succeeded in scoring three goals, making their total five, and causing great interest to be taken in tho fourth and final, which, after a long conteat, resulted in one more goal being taken by tho Bay. Total : Bay 6, Arai 5. The ground was very rough, and several casualties occurred, but nothing serious. A large crowd of spectators attended, and evinced great interest in the game. Tea was kindly provided by Mrs Barker.
