TOTE BETTORS PINED.

» [Per Press Association] Dukedi.v, to-day. The prosecutions arising out of the recent raids on "tote" betting offices came before the Stipendiary Magistrate yesterday. Abraham Moss was fined £50 and costs £4 11s, and John Dalziell and R. Hoops (clerks in Moss's office) were each fined £5 and costs, Mr Carew pointing out that they were liable to a fine of £100. Peter Grant was fined £100, having been previously convicted, and the Magistrate said any further wise against him would be dealt with by imprisonment. Whelan nnd Broad, for assisting Grant, were each fined £7 and costs. Thomas Barnett was fined £50 and costs j William Banks (assistant to BarneU) £5 and costs ; David Short, for being « Grant's office, and Thomas McMillan ;or being in Bacnett's office without lawful excuso, £5 each and costs.
