TEE COAL TRADE-

ANOTHER SERIOUS DISTURBANCE.

AN EXTENSIVE LOCK-OUT

IMMINENT.

10,000 MINERS AFFECTED.

(Electric Telegraph-Copyrlfthl— Uoltal Press

Association.)

(Received Oct. 1, 9.35 a.m.)

Newcastle, Oct. L A meeting of the Miners Delegate Board endorsed the action of the Dudley miners in refusing to work with safety lamps, It was decided to pay them strike allowances. It was announced that the vote of the district lodges liar! gone almost unanimously against the proprietors' proposed new general agreement. A suggestion to refer it hack to the proprietors for modification was lost. It was resolved to cease further uegotiations and to wk the Minister of Mines to enforce the weighing clause of the Act, over which the trouble arose, forthwith. The proprietors threatened some time ago that if the clause were enforced they would shut down all the mines in the northern, southern, and western districts. There is no reason to believe the owners will reverse this decision. It would mean over 10,000 miners beiog thrown out of work.
