HAWKE'S BAY~WINTER MEETING. Hastings Racecourse, to-day. Thero ia splendid weather for the opening day of the Hawke'a Bay Jockey Club's winter meeting. The course is very heavy. The attendance ia good. Maiden Steei-leciiase : Ziccho (Sweeney) 1, Rossal 2, Valetta 3. Forty Winka, Otaieri, Chiis, and Sir Athol were scratched. Won by two lengths. Conscript., who was favorite with Zaeoho, ran off. Spermaceti fell. Time, 4min 42gec ; dividend, £3 la. Welter: Primula (Whitaker) 1, The Miser 2, Mystical 3. Moonraker, Donald McKinnon, and Wikitoria were scratched. Won by three-quarters of a length. Time, 2min 26 2-sth sec ; dividend, £12 11s. Ladies' Bracelet : Haeta (L. Shaw) 1, Tenby 2, Light 3. The Buck and Papaka were sciatched ; won easitv ; time, 4min. 9aec ; div., £10 sh. Handicap Hurdles: The Plug 1, Napoleon 2, Zanzibar 3. Time, 4min 14 3-sth sec, Div., £5 7s.
