THE RISING IN RHODESIA.
Capetown, June 24. The friendly natives, with the loss of ten of their number, defeated the Matabeles at the Mazinini river, and captured their cattle and sheep. Fifty volunteers with a machine gun prevented the natives at Fort Victoria joining the rebels. The Madoe convoy occupied a kopje, which the enemy surrounded. Two telegraph operators were killed whilst trying to send news. Captain Spreckloy's column has burned 60 grain kraals. Major-General Carrington reports that the Masliono. rising is spreading. The Matabeles, he Sitya, are massed in large numbers 16 miles to the north-east of Bulawayo. The Natal contingent has defeated 200 Mashonas.
