The immediat circumstances leading to tho two million guarantee to the Bank of New Zenlau' in 1894, and especially as to the informa tion upon which the Government urgei Parliament to give that guarantee ; (2) al matters relating to the appointment of M Watßon os president and Mr Mackenzie n general manager of the Bank of New Zeu land ; (3) AU matters relating to the pre posal for amalgamation in 1894 of th Colonial Bank with tho Bank of New Zee land and the purchase of the Colonial Bank i 1895, and especially as to the correct net of the balance-sheets of the Colonial Bun and the amount paid for that bank as gooc ■will, and the basis on which such allege goodwill was assessed ; and (4) to deal wit nil such matters as the committeo may dcci necessary or expedient,

In Oaraaru, the other day, a prohibited person was fined for going into a store which hold a bottle license. It was not shown that he asked for liquor, and ho had pub down Is 6d when the atoreraan ordered him out. Of course there were goods in the store which he might have been wishing to purchase, but the copestone of the whole extraordinary business was that the man was employed in a store which holds a bottle license, and that the Magistrate told him that, as he read the Act, he was liable to a fine for working there.
