MASHONAS PROVE DISLOYAL. • AN EXCITING INCIDENT. A PATROL ESCORTING WOMEN ATTACKED. Capetown, June 23. The friendly natives ate joining the rebels and it is feared the rising will extend from the Zambesi to the Transvaal. An impi, two thousand strong, is marching from Matoppo to join the Mashonas, who are behaving with gross treachery. Fifty men from Bulawayo will Reinforce Beales' column. Twenty-three of the Fort Salisbury patrol who were conveying women from Mazol in mule waggons had to contend with the natives. A fight began in the evening, and was continued next day. The rebels were very daring, and came within six yards of the waggons. Seven of the defending force were killed and four wounded. They lost) the mules and horses, but saved the women. The natives at Fort Charter are rising, and the native police at Marindella are proving disloyal.
