The following were the chief scorers for the Australians in their first innings : Donnan, b Hulme 15 Gregory, caught Porter, b Hulme... 17 Hill, 1.b.w., b Attewell 11 Eady, caught Quaife, b Porter ... 41 Kelly, 1.b.w., bQuaife 13 Johns, run out ... ... ... 37 ' Hulme took six wickets for 54, Attewell one for 42, Porter one for 9. In their first innings the Midland Counties lost three wickets for 168. The chief scorers were : Jones, b McKibbin 31 Gunn, b McKibbin 69 Quaife, not out ... 45 Lilley, not out ... . . ... 14 Juno 19. — Hulme was almost unplayable before lunch, and six of the Australian wickets had fallen for the wretched score of 24. Eady and Jones, however, when associated livened up the game and put on 55 runs in 35 minutes. Gunn and Qviaife J played excellent cricket, and their scores ' were obtained without the semblance of a chance. Later. — The Midland Counties team are all out for 267.
