Wairoa, to-day. At the School Committee mealing last night Mr Robert Neill, of Otago, formerly of tho Blue Spur school, Tupeka, afterwards at Cavershatn, and lately locum tenena at disborne High School, was appointed master, subject to the Board's confirmation. Miss King, fifth year pupil teacher at Napier district school, was appointed mistress. Both were highly recommended. There is a marked falling off in the Harbor Board revenue owing to the blocking up of the bar. A local gentleman has a flood-gate sohome to obviate this, but probably ifc will never succeed. The Harbor Board are planning to protect a great length of the Mariue Parade at the foot of the bank. The Ward business is still exciting great talk. He has plenty of sympathisers in his personal losses and troubles but none as Colonial Treasurer. The blow will fall heavily, even on Mr Carroll. The prohibitionists are looking out for a Nationalist candidate who will accept their platform.
