Just as they were abou to take their midday meal, it was discoverec that somehow a stiok of phosphorus hac ' been boiled with the potatoes. r The police sent out in search for th< , murderers of Mr Donald Mackenzie hav< i returned to Cooktown. They came aorosi , the bodies of Borne blacks who had evidently died of poison, and are supposed to have used the arsenic stolen from Mackenzie's house after the murder.
