EARTHQUAKES IN JAPAN.
♦ SEVERAL TOWNS DESTROYED. GREAT LOSS OF LIFE. OVER A THOUSAND PEOPLE RILLED. Tokio, June 17. One hundred and fifty shocks of earth' quake were experienced in twenty hours in the northern provinces of the principal island of Japan. The earthquakes were followed by a tida' wave. Several towns and villages were destroyed i>nd tho lobs of life wbs enormous. It is estimated. that over a thousand people have been killed.
